Story behind the song
I just got the first short line ("What did I do") and melody, and it took off from there.
Lyrics
1. What did I do with my existence When things were right, when things were wrong? 2. The time's gone by, but with persistence I still can write that special song. Bridge 1. Don't bring me down, I don't need it, Don't say that I'm too old. Just because love put some years on me And made my future cold from time to time. 3. But now there's Spring, I've built resistance, Still love the night and now I'm strong. 4. I'll close the deal with no assistance The end's in sight, though the road is long. Bridge 2. And if I've never seen the rivers of China no-one really minds, 'Cos I still feel I'm a witness to the need not to be unkind. 5. And in conclusion I rest my case, When I've run my distance I'll know it And face the curtain with my soul in it’s place. And maybe leave a trace ... behind.
