Story behind the song
I originally wrote this song in 2005 to pitch it to Johnny Winter ... and why not? No luck then, but this is a NEW VERSION with great live drumming played by Robert Mandelbaum of The Johnson Project. A BIG thanks to Robert for his input!
Lyrics
1. I was there at the beginning when Rock ‘n’ Roll was born, I could feel that rhythm winnin’ – I was in there at the dawn. I heard my guitar callin’, ‘Come on baby and rock, I found my way in and started to sing my way to the top. Refrain 1. And I'm still rockin now, I'm still rockin now. I ain't stoppin' 'cos there's always time for boppin' - Just keep-a rockin' till the devil comes a-knockin'! But I ain't stopping 'n' I'm still rockin' now. 2. Had the blues like any schoolboy, and the Schoolboy Blues are real, But the music felt so cool, boy, and I knew I had the feel. There is somethin’ down in Texas that Chicago never had, You’re jammin’ the blues, there’s nothing to lose, so why’re you feelin’ sad? Refrain 2. And I'm still rockin' now, etc... Bridge. Even though the years have changed the world, It’s still the same old thing: Rock ‘n’ Roll is king! 3. It’s a sentimental journey from a Rolling Stone till now, Take a rockin’ good attorney to stop me anyhow. ‘Cos the alligator bit me, left teeth in my guitar, Whatever my age I’m still on the stage – it’s great to be a star! Refrain 3. And I’m still rockin' now, etc... Instrumental. 4. It’s a sentimental journey from a Rolling Stone till now, Take a rockin’ good attorney to stop me anyhow. ‘Cos the alligator bit me, left teeth in my guitar, Whatever my age I’m still on the stage – it’s great to be a star! Refrain 4. And I’m still rockin' now, etc...
