I would like to invite you to my world of hip-hop! I am an local artist representing Dallas, TX on a global scale! You can stream (commercial free) or free download my CLASSIC, TIMELESS collection of Southern Gangsta rap which lead the way for modern trap and now drill music which DOMINATES the music industry today! About me ; I was introduced to music at a very young age of about 10yr old (1988) Which such groups like NWA and 2 Short! Around that same year our music teacher had us audition for a program in which a SAY NO TO DRUGS campaign was launched and invited everyone who wanted to participate for the part of the (say no to drugs RAP) You had to memorize and recite it to compete for the part in the program. I can't remember much of what was written but I do remember the line about 'say no to drugs and cocaine , cause it will mess up your brain' Given a limited amount of time to rehearse the rap, I did and was VERY excited to join in on the competition of all 3 fifth graders competing for the part! I don't remember exactly how many students went before but as soon as I touched the stage and recited the RAP the competition was over with' I got the part! This was my first introduction into becoming a RAPPER! That same year for Christmas along with my train set, I received a Casio keyboard and this gave me my fundamental foundation of producing electronic music! I wasn't able to do much original music on there but it was LOADED with a lot of preset music and you could always press the keys to atleast add a few sounds of your own for none the less entertainment purpose! This would be my first glimpse into the world of creating music! Tho mostly loaded with jazz instruments it added a few other instruments also! So from the age of 10 all the way to 17 i would be involved in developing and creating my OWN ORIGINAL SOUND! I would write raps and recite them to my friends and family! A few Christmases later maybe about the age of 14 I received a JAM BOX and it had a button on their that said (RECORD)!! I first would record my favorite songs off the radio from artist like PIMP C and others! I began to experiment and figured out i could also record my OWN vocals on tape! So in 1988 while groups like NWA was taking gangsta rap to the masses I was rapping (say no to drugs)! But by the age of 14 I was writing my own raps and recording on cassette tape! Being introduced to to RAPPING, PRODUCING AND RECORDING at a very young age i was EAGER to get my chance in the spotlight but 1 major problem stood between me and success! While child rap stars where being made with artist like KRIS CROSS and others i was waiting for my chance to explore my own path to SUCCESS! During this time I was listening to artist like Pimp C, Scarface, Too Short, Spice 1 and many similar artist who was VERY GRAPHIC in there depection of the life style they where living! One thing stood in my path and that was the use of profanity! While artist like Kriss Cross where a NATION WIDE PHENOMENON with songs like Jump, I wanted to rap like the artist I listen to for countless hours of the day and night! So finally my time came and I turned 17 (adult in Texas) I was able to use profanity! At that time I made a promise to NEVER make a rap song without cuss words because of the 9 year wair! In 1997 I was introduced to Pimpsta a local Dallas artist and Invited to collaborate on 3 songs for his upcoming project Pimpsta and the South Side Soldiers! Even tho I heard his releases prior to this like Rollin on Thangs and Dickies and House Shoes i wasn't a fan! However I did agree to collaborate on the South Side Soldiers album in 1997 and for free because he was doing me FAVOR by letting me showcase my talent to a very large Reginal following! I knew I had made it when I went from Dallas all the way to Austin and heard someone walking down the street reciting my verse from the song 'Makin Profit' I also appeared on the Pimpsta album in 1998 Smoking Big both under the name of Lil Chris! This is around the time that digital audio programs became available with software like cakewalk! Even tho it wasn't effective as you would like (complicated to navigate) it paved the way for later programs like Cubase and Protocols! So from 1998-2005 I was experimenting with these software programs but still in and out of professional studios also and experimenting with my sound! During that time I purchased music equipment like the Triton keyboard and used programs like fruity loops starting in around 2002! That's when I used fruity loops to make the beat for my CLASSIC song titled 'Listen Up' when producers heard this song they where eager to offer support of supplying me beats to continue recording in my garage studio! Raymond O not only supplied me with beats but also studio equipment like a better microphone and introduced me to Cubase because I was using ACID PRO! Never the less I still handled ALL RECORDING tho he would help with mixing! So I worded day and night from 2002-2005 writing the songs for the now Ground Breaking Historical Album ' Listen Up' this was the start of Trap Muzic with samples from movies like Scarface it also incorporated the now what is called Drill Music! I would sales cds for as much as I could local in the city of Dallas and I remembered my proudest moment as a Gangsta Rapper was seeing a teenager kicked out the house and was carrying his clothes with him and on top of his clothes was my Listen up cd! This was what I had WORKED for most of my life was making music for the STREETS not radio! Around 2006 I was back in Austin Texas where I discovered soundclick.com which let local independent artist upload music! So uploaded my album Listen Up making it available to the World (cutting edge at the time) So it was now time to start working on my new album which would also be classic Background Check! I would then collaborate with a new producer on this album name Andrew of Quest Records! Where and how my producers got there beats? I don't know but I just knew that it was nothing of like I heard in the 1990s that was the inspiration and drive that kept the lyrics coming! So why the West Coast was doing funk and the East Coast their thing and Houston doing screw i had MY OWN ORIGINAL AUTHENTIC SOUND! That today can still NEVER BE MATCHED! When asked by Ai in conclusion it said I built the House they live in compared to Southern Gangsta Rap! Now on a global scale LYRICALLY when compared to Jaz Z it says that I'm a better LYRICALLY (line for line) which is the ONLY WAY to compare lyrics, you only strong as your weakest link!
