i am Steve Weyman from Bristol England and been playing guitar since I was 9 years of age and doing paid gigs in bands from age 14 playing covers and originals. I am a bit older ( quite a bit older now ! I am not gigging at the moment . I am teaching guitar and concentrating more on writing and recording in m y little home studio. Don't write in a particular style, it comes out how it comes out !
Band/artist history
I started playing after my brother taught me a few chords on guitar when i was 9 then progressed from there and started playing in his band at 14 then joined another band at 16 and from then just gigged with various bands. I realised i could sing a bit so started doing more lead vocals as well as lead guitar playing mainly rock and pop and country rock styles and of course blues.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
played for many years to live audiences some good gigs and some bad ! but mostly good and fun ! some small audiences and some very large audiences like festivals etc nothing like playing live to feel alive !
Your musical influences
my influences early on were Hendrix the Eagles and Mark Knopfler from dire Straits and David Gilmour and many more in between. Mark Knopfler is my all time favourite because of his unique finger style.
What equipment do you use?
I use Fender Strats and teles.Fender Paramount electro acoustic and Gibson Les Pauls .As im not gigging now I use black star and small fender valve amps for recording. Effects I use include Boss Me 90 and line 6 HX stomp XL in my home studio. i record my songs on a Boss BR 800 recorder abit limiting as it only has 8 tracks but not bad for demos . I play all guitars , bass and recently starting to play synth and piano on recordings and I use a Yamaha PSR E 473 and sing all vocals and backing vocals on my tracks. My daughter has just started to sing backing vocals on some tracks .
Anything else?
There are a lot of great artists on this site so hope i can do justice to myself on here and think i can learn a lot from them. have had a good start but have to keep writing and recording and learning !

Pure class!
Oh yeah, 1984-5 what a great period for music that was! INXS would go top 5 in the US with What U Need, Bob Clearmountain was the ‘go to’ producer and Power Station was blasting out ‘Get it On’! Loved the 80’s and love this cover Steve, just so good! Also, wonderful cover of in heat of night which I’ve just gone into typing this ! Great work!
What a great discovery coming across this track Steve - loved Bryan Adam’s from ‘83 to ‘85 (cuts like a knife to reckless - 2 brilliant pop rock albums) I was in Canada when I first heard ‘cuts’ and I was blown away by it (still great song!) Your vocals, musicianship and mixing skills all on show here! Simply brilliant!
I hvaen't heard this song in ages, but I have to go and listen to the original again. Listening to your version, makes me realize that this really is a great song. I am very amazed at the production and how you manage to create this amazing soundscape, at times disturbing and at other times so reassuring. Great work!
Great work on this cover, Steve! I always liked this song and your rendition is absolutely awesome. It may be a cover, but you make it your own, by the fresh and enjoyable, straight forward way you are passing this on to the listener. Super work on all levels!
